Human Swine Flu

When there is H5N1, we killed tons of chicken. When there is swine flu, some (or 1) countries killed tons of pigs. Now, human transfers the swine flu back to pigs. Sometimes, I wonder, whether pigs had considered killing tons of human...

It seems like human has a tendency of killing unlimited amount of wild lives when there are chances that they may endanger human, regardless whether they are really endangering. What kind of mindset behind this? Pigs and chicken are not lives. They are merely food. It's like when your shoes are hurting you, you throw them away. If you think about it, they are not really lives. They live to die (absolutely no parallelism whatsoever intended) to feed us. Their life purpose is to feed us. Of course that's fine, we are the center of the world and we are human! Everything around us is only for us to use and exploit. Of course, we care for the earth, our human descendants still live in it, right?

Hmm... I thought God actually saved them thru Noah long time ago. They are also part of the creation, like human, that "God saw that it was good" (Gen 1:10,12,18,21,25) and "God saw all he had made, and it was very good" (Gen 1:31).

  1. Well, come to think of it, God also wiped out the earth with rain. He too, so to speak, arguably, killed the humans and animals because they've sinned and God "was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the Lord said, '...I am grieved that I have made them." Genesis 6:6-7. To further the argument, Genesis 19 talks about God's destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. There are numerous other references of God punishing humans and some by having them mass murdered in the Bible.

Please understand, there's no parallelism here referenced to your point. Its purely for arguments sake. It doesn't make our deeds justified. God's actions was justified, for humans have sinned.

I do see your point however. We humans have evolved to a point where we exploit to our advantage. In addition, there's no end to it. I don't understand the purpose of the exploitation when we even exploit our our own health for the sake of having a better quality of life in the future. As a result, these animals to us humans, are sadly only a dispensable tool to build a better quality future.

Oops. Probably my comment is longer than your post.

  2. Long comment is ok, and indeed good. This is what conversation supposed to be.

I agree that there is no parallelism as you said. God's actions were justified for humans have sinned. To the best of my knowledge, the pigs/chicken didn't do anything wrong. In fact, may be it is human who did wrong. No intention to lead the discussion to suffering of the just.

I think human's calling is to till and care the creation as steward, not to consume, exploit and destroy.
